Introduction
Newquay, Cornwall’s surf & holiday capital is also home to an excellent Male Voice Choir. The Choir has nearly 40 members. Members come from all walks of life and are united by a love of singing which takes place in a wide range of venues. In recent years, the choir have performed in chapels, churches, preaching pits, schools and cathedrals and have entertained in pubs, clubs, marquees, hotels and conference centres. We have sung at weddings, festivals, funerals, conferences, school assemblies, dinners and a wide range of charity events.

Best uniform for a formal Church concert and recording our latest CD ‘08
Our repertoire is varied and consists of music that is written (or arranged) for 4-part harmony and includes songs about Cornwall and its communities, barber-shop music, traditional arrangements of Choral, operatic and hymn tunes as well as a wide range of songs from the shows and modern popular songs. We enjoy singing with other choirs, bands and musicians both formally, in concerts, and informally afterwards.

The choir enjoys both singing in Cornwall and performing for audiences outside the county and has raised thousands of pounds for charity and good causes in the 34 years since it was reformed.
The choir is particularly pleased to support initiatives to encourage choral singing with youngsters. We have supported the development of a new Male Voice Choir which has been established at Treviglas Community College in Newquay. The Treviglas Male Chorus, augmented by members of Newquay Male Voice Choir, has sung at a number of events & concerts with other musicians and has been warmly welcomed by all. The Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs have been pleased to support the initiative and recognised the work by awarding the Presidents Plate to Newquay MVC in 2010. Full details can be found on their website. NMV choir have also supported the Tretherras school "Big Sing" and hope to return to help this choir later in the year. We have also been delighted to help Primary Choral groups by singing at Morning Assemblies and (as part of the national "Sing Up" initiative) have supported & encouraged boys to enjoy singing in their choral groups at Trenance Infant school 8.15am pre-school boys choir club.
Newquay has some excellent concert venues including the main churches of the different denominations, but the jewel in the crown has to be the Parish Church of St Michael the Archangel which was completely refurbished after a fire a few years ago. The natural acoustics of the building make it a superb place in which to sing and the choir used this venue for their latest recording “Keep the music flowing” in 2008.
