The repertoire of Newquay Male Voice Choir is varied and includes a wide range of music that has been written (or arranged) for 4-part male voice harmony. The choir is fortunate that several previous conductors have been able and willing to arrange music for it. Alan Taylor, especially, has written a number of arrangements that have enabled the choir to develop an enviable reputation for singing “Songs from the Shows” and other popular music.

Cornwall has a long and proud tradition of male voice choir singing and this choir has its origins in that tradition. It is interesting to note that there are more Male Voice Choirs per head of population in Cornwall than there are in Wales, so often regarded as the centre of Male Voice singing in the UK.

Newquay M.V. Choir singing with 1000 Cornish Male Voices at the Royal Albert Hall

The choir has participated in a number of massed male voice concert events with other local choirs both at the Albert Hall and here in our home county of Cornwall. We are enthusiastic participants in the biennial international festival of Male Voice Choirs.

We are also pleased to be associated with, and members of, the Cornish Federation of Male Voice Choirs and the National Association of Choirs.
