Our Music
The repertoire of Newquay Male Voice Choir is varied and includes a
wide range of music that has been written (or arranged) for 4-part
male voice harmony. The choir are fortunate that several previous
conductors have been able and willing to arrange music for it. Alan
Taylor, especially, has written a number of arrangements that have
enabled the choir to develop an enviable reputation for singing “Songs
from the Shows”
and other popular music.
“LAND OF LEGEND, LAND OF SONG” – so goes the first
line of the title song of "Cornubia," the latest recording
to be released by Newquay Male Voice Choir. Cornwall (Cornubia) has
a long and proud tradition of male voice choir singing and this choir
has its origins in that tradition. Copies of “Cornubia” (cassette
and CD with recordings of a range of our choral music, available
for
£4 & £7 respectively) can be obtained by contacting
the publicity officer (see
contacts).
The choir has also participated in a number of massed concert events
with other local choirs both at the Albert Hall and here in the county.
We particularly look forward to taking an active part in the biennial
Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival at the end of April ‘05.
We are also pleased to be associated with, and members of, the Cornish
Federation of Male Voice Choirs (see www.fed-cornishchoirs.org.uk/ )
and the National Association of Choirs (see www.ukchoirsassoc.co.uk/ ).
